COMPLETE WOMEN’S WARDROBE FORM

Performance attire for concerts and festivals is described below.Gentlemen are asked to obtain a plain black suit (of their choosing) as the base for their performance attire.Additionally, all men will need black dress socks and black dress shoes.Tie color may be coordinated at a later date.Ladies will be provided a black dress for each ensemble that they participate in.You will also need black tights or knee-highs and black, flat, closed-toed shoes with a 2-inch heel or less.

Students who wish to purchase their outfits may do so (this is encouraged). If you choose not to, a used outfit will be loaned to you for the school year but cannot be altered and must be returned in good condition.

Any student who is not dressed appropriately for any performance will not be allowed to participate in that performance. The student will be marked with an unexcused absence for that performance and grading will be effected accordingly. The decision to enforce this is at the discretion of Mr. Pugh.

Informal Performance Attire:  There may be occasions where the choir wears an informal uniform (choir T-shirt and jeans).  In such instances, each student is expected to wear the prescribed clothing and dress in a dignified manner.

All singers’ hair must be away from their faces and up, if long enough for that. If possible girls should put hair in a bun or top knot. Ladies, if your hair is long enough for a 3 inch or longer pony tail, it’s enough for a bun.  Please take some time to practice in advance of a concert, and it’s best to have these key items before you start:

  • comb/brush
  • ponytail band/holder
  • styling hair pins/”bun pins” (U-shaped, used to conceal edges of bun and connect it to the rest of your hair)
  • standard bobby pins, of a color close to your hair color (used to keep shorter, layered, or fly-away hair flat)
  • hair spray or hair mousse, also to keep hair smooth and flat

One suggested technique is described in the video to the right.  Note: you don’t need to use a hair net, since the girls won’t be dancing!
If pony tail is too short to twist, you can try gathering the ponytail a little lower on the back of the girl’s head.  If it’s too short still, you can make a “fountain” by letting the hair in the pony tail fall evenly on all sides of the ponytail holder, then tuck the ends underneath and pin down – a hair net would help with this.

There are times your child will need to CARRY all wardrobe items with him/her. This may be for a tour or a festival. Each singer must have a garment bag with his/her name on it, and ALL pieces of their wardrobe should fit well in that bag, INCLUDING SHOES and SOCKS/TIGHTS.
